On the morning of July 14, Guangzhou Great Power Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Qingdao North Shore Holding Group signed a cooperation agreement on a 5MW/10MWh sodium ion energy storage power station demonstration project. The large-scale application in northern energy storage power stations marks the official introduction of Great Power Energy's sodium ion batteries into the market and the entry into the stage of large-scale commercial application, which is of symbolic significance for the industrialization of sodium electricity.

The 5MW/10MWh sodium ion energy storage power station project is located in Qingdao North Bank Holdings Big Data Center, which is the first fusion application of sodium ion batteries in new energy storage and new infrastructure of big data centers. This project will effectively improve the energy efficiency level of Qingdao North Bank Big Data Center, empower the construction of green data centers, and support the high-quality development of Qingdao City driven by digitalization.

Three years ago, Great Power Energy deployed the technology in the field of sodium-ion battery research. Today, the company has achieved remarkable results in the fields of sodium-ion material system construction, supply chain cooperation, and product system research and development. In 2022, the batch trial production and sample delivery test of small cylindrical, large cylindrical, and square cells have been completed. At the same time, a number of invention patents related to sodium electricity have been applied for, and many research papers have been published in Top journals.

In the 5MW/10MWh sodium ion energy storage power station demonstration project of Qingdao North Bank Holdings Big Data Center, Great Power Energy will provide a complete sodium ion technology solution to realize the construction and application of sodium ion cells in a new power load management system. The project not only effectively reduces the operating cost of the data center, but the Big Data Center of North Shore Holdings will also actively participate in the regulation of the social power grid to improve the stability and reliability of the social power grid.
